i would like to know what are software cookie and what danger do they enpose on the network?

It's a short line of text that a web site puts on your computer's hard drive when you access the web site.

No danger, they show where you've been. And websites should be charged a fee to place them on computers, imo.

to add to what Mel said, there's 2 sorts - direct and indirect. Direct comes from the website you visit, whereas (AFAIK) indirect comes from a third party site. I generally allow direct & block indirect.
