Cedar table, used all summer It needs a clear finish to prevent the color from turning grey over the winter.

For any application to apply properly, the wood must be dry. If the table is weathered, you may want to do some light sanding before varnishing

no it has to be dry
what's wrong with grey? if you varnish or stain it, you'll end up having to do it every year.
grey cedar is a lovely colour

No. The varnish will not adhere properly on a wet surface.

yes, if you want the varnish to streak and not absorb into the wood. Otherwise let it dry out first.
