I am trying to decide what to buy my 11 yr old son for his birthday and ideas for Christmas. He enjoys video games and working on the computer.

Concert tickets for him and one of his friends, to one of his favorite bands when they come to town, and it will help you bond with him when you go with them.

Does he have a fishing pole, sports equipment or hiking boots? How about a telescope? He might enjoy the pc and video game, but sometimes being out in the real world is a nice thing. Don't want him wondering what that big yellow thing in the sky is, do you?

Kids who have everything appreciate nothing which is probably why you are asking this question.
Why don't you give him a gift certificate to a show or a game that enables you to spend valuable time together.

a new attitude if he is snobby and if he isnt buy him more video games or computer games, my brother used to like video games and once you beat the game its not fun anymore. Also clothes are always good! :)

get him a new computer game or video game. Make sure to check what system he has (PS2, Xbox 360, etc) before buying a game, and see what games he already has.
Trust me, any kid would love a new game. Just make ABSOLUTELY sure he doesnt already have it.

A science set, art kit, magic kit, something that goes to his interests but gets him thinking. There are even tech kits out there to teach children to put together small technical devices.
