It refers to the choice of women. Not all people who are pro-choice believe in abortion; many just believe in the choice, even though abortion disgust them.

The truth is, that both sides twist the truth.
Life does not start at conception. Conception is the merging of existing life. Only living human sperm babies and living human ova babies can merge at conception. They are alive and human. They are a valid stage of human life. Does this mean that abstinence as bad as or worse than abortion? Maybe, if your religion says so...
So it is a matter of where the line is drawn.
It is not possible to draw a line at conception, since conception can take days after intercourse. Yet, that is where the pro-life group wants to draw the line.
Conception is not an "Instant", it takes time. If you could draw a line at a certain point during conception, what good would it do?
Should the mother be allowed to make that decision? Should a doctor be allowed to make the decision? Should the Government be the one who decides? What about the father?
The question still is, where do you want to draw the line?
No two people have the same answer.
If you really want to reduce the epidemic abortion rate, you need to go after the #1 cause of abortion.
The #1 cause of abortion, is, was, and always will be the stigma on unwed mothers from the religious right.

If a 12 year old was raped and became pregnant as a result, this would be a prime example of "pro choice." Pro choice is saying yes, I have the choice not to make my daughter carry this horrible nightmare inside her to full term and make her go through the pain of labor when she did nothing wrong. The 12 year old is a child and has no business having a baby. That would be cruel and inhumane and that is why abortion should remain legal.

Pro-Choice does not consider abortion acceptable. That is the general misconception rendered by mindless dittohead neocons. Pro-Choice means that the state should not intervene in a woman's decision regarding her own body. The decision she reaches is hopefully an informed one based upon weighing the consequences of her actions. its amazing that right wingers demand less government except when it serves their personal interests. I would feel a lot more comfortable with the right wing viewpoint if if didn't simply end at the pro-choice debate. Why? Because the right wing want to deny a woman her right to choose but once the baby is born the right does not want to participate in providing the necessary tax revenues to support the unwanted child through maturity. So in reality the right wing says "its not OK to abort, but its OK to watch a kid starve to death or die of neglect, because its not MY responsibilty." Well, if you support anti-abortion legislation, i feel that it DOES become your responsibility. And ultimately, the rich will still have access to abortion while the poor would not, under the hypocritical neocon philosophy. The baby gets no choice under the dribbling neocon point of view, either.

The feminazis do not want anyone to tell them what to do. They believe they can do what they want. I feel it should be called pro-abortion, but they do not want to think of the horror of what they actually do.
Ironically, most pro-choice people only can apply that to abortion. I am pro-choice because:
1. I want the choice to where I send my kids to school. No government schools for me. It is my tax money and I want to spend it where I want.
2. I want the choice where to invest my Social Security money. I do not want the government holding my money and giving me nothing of a return.
3. I want the choice as to where I spend my money. I do not need the government telling me I have to fund welfare, health care, etc. I earned it and it belongs to me.
Most liberals do not want to pass judgment on personal behavior. There is always a gray area for them. I believe abortion is wrong period. It is a black and white issue.
By the way, for pro-lifers, we have our own version of pro-choice: Choose not to have sex until you are ready to have a family.
People who want abortion legal want it legal because of a very small percentage of reasons. Rape, mother's life in danger, etc. What about the vast majority of people who have sex because they want to and then get pregnant. Should they be held accountable, yes. If you do not want a child, close your legs. Do not act surprised because you get pregnant. It is not society's problem because you cannot behave responsibility. I was a product of a teenaged mother and am completely convinced that today I would be aborted.

If this were China and the woman was forced to have the abortion, then it would be "pro-abortion." This is not China, we don't force women to have abortions, we let the woman decide for herself, and not let the government get involved. It is pro-choice.

Its about giving a woman the choice to access safe medical treatment or returning to an era where women in need of abortions for various reasons were forced to go to unsafe back street practices to recieve dangerous botched abortions.

personally i think abortions is wrong, but some people do it any way, but if like a rape or something like that happened then abortins are ok, but people think they can have un procted sex, and not bother with what happens after, well people should learn to deal with what they have done, baby or no baby, they should know they could fall pregnant, is fall pregnant at 17, i was at college, doin what i wanted with life but then i fell, and i dealt with it, she is now a very happy 3 yr old, also then had another baby when i was 19, which he is now a happy 1 yr old, love them very much too, my little buddles of joy, but sometimes very stress ful, im only 21 but thats life, i knew i was takin the risk of fallin preggies, and i did, so know ive got my to babys and thats the way it should be

When does the baby ever get a choice? Why do you think there is a coming of age?

Neither do the babies that have died as a result of the war in Iraq have a choice. Should they have been given any less consideration? What about those that died as a result of the apathy of our President to act swiftly after Katrina in the Gulf area? Should they have been given a choice? What do you think they would have chosen? Republicans seem to be pro-life for the unborn, but pro-death for the living! Hypocritical!
