Material progress is not bad, but it cannot make people happy, because it only deals with bodily and mental needs of people. We are not these bodies, we are spirit souls, and if all our endeavors are directed towards material progress, there will be only frustration and increasing chaos in the world. If people do not take to God consciousness, the chaos in the world will increase every day. However, if people are God conscious, they can use modernisation in the service of God, and that is not bad.

no. it just depends how we become modern. if we manage to find a more efficient and cleaner source of feul through modernization, then we've already solved a huge problem. if we progress in all areas of technology and responsibility then it will be ok. as far as war goes, the west is unfortunately too "politically correct" to use nuclear weapons and such, so youll never have to worry about that. just worry about those weapons getting in to the wrong hands.

It will lead ultimately to nuclear/hydrogen bombs either as a deterrent or to bully others. A situation might arise when someone is not getting his fair share and in frustration he may press the button. Good luck.

It won't end if we use science to better mankind, instead of trying to destroy it.
