I don't know if it's fact or all a myth, but I was discussing this with my midwife - the higher the heartbeat is it's a boy, the lower the heartbeat is it's a girl. My baby's heartbeat was always over 140 and we had a boy. Just remember it will depend on how active or relaxed the baby is, and if you just ate or drank juice, time of day , etc. It will always be very high at the beginning and slower towards the end of your pregnancy, but if it's consistently higher, I would say it's a boy. But really I'm not a doctor if you want to know for sure, your Dr will be able to tell you (but then again even the ultrasound is not 100%)

usually you can. A boys heartbeat is low and a girls is higher. Sometimes they go a little low and in the beginning they are always high. Just after this watch what it is if it stays low then most likely it is a boy. But you know what you should find out next month what it is!!!! My daughter's hertbeat was in the 16's to 170's and I am 29 weeks this time with a boy and last visit his was in the 120's. Good luck this is a great experience!!!! And I hope you get a very healthy baby.

Old wives tales say a fast heartbeat, like the one you've mentioned, points to a girl. Keep in mind, this is a tale. For me, anything in the 130's did turn out to be a boy. Anything in the 140's turned out to be a girl. So far, a good predictor for me, 7 out of 8 times. Will have to wait and see if the last one follows the same rule. BPM's in the 130's.

You cannot predict the sex from the heart rate! Thats definately an old wives tale. The only way you will know the sex is by ultrasound between 18-22 weeks.

I don't know how accurate that old wives tale is. I'm having a boy and his hrt rate has been in the 150's. So, I don't think it's a very accurate way to guess the sex. Good Luck with the pregnancy though!

That is just a saying! You will get a different reading every time their take the heart beat. I did and when i went by that one day it was a girl and the next it was a boy. Talk about crazy just best to wait for your ultrasound to tell you.

It's a BABY! That's an old wives tale. A baby's heartbeat can range from like 120-180bpm. The sex of the baby doesn't have anything to do with the heartrate.

if you go by that the baby should be a boy, but trust me it will change every time you go and that is not reliable at all. What until about 26-30 week ultrasound and ask them to look.
