What is the best paint brush to buy when painting your kitchen cabinets. I dont mind spending the extra money for the best quality. I dont want any brush marks to show.

Having been in the paint business and having done professional painting, I would say to find out what kind of paint is on it right now.

If theya re natural and shiney, you are going to have to ruff it up a bit with sandpaper. If they are painted with latex, you are either going to have to repaint them with latex or remove it all. UUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG.

Brushes: For latex paints, which I would not use if they have been previously varnished or finished with oil paint, you use a nylon bristle brush. If you are painting with oil base paint, you can use a nylon brush, or better, use a china bristle brush.

You will probably have to put on two coats. Get an angled brush of very high quality. As you brush, level your paint out by covering the surface and then brushing over it lightly until the brush strokes disappear. that is difficult with latex paints. Latex dries too quickly.

Take the doors of the cabinets OFF, remove the hinges and knobs from the doors and frames, and lay the doors on a board that is laying across two This is not a one day job.

Ask your paint dealer how to "feather" your paint.

The trick to reduce the brush marks is to add "Flowtrol" to the paint. It is available at Home Depot and probably most paint stores. It makes the paint flow better.

Latex paint should be applied with a synthetic-bristle brush, which does not absorb water; oil-based paint should be applied with a natural-bristle brush. I use Purdy products in my home, they can be costly, but worth it.
