The Beatles, of course. Elvis was a great singer and performer before the time he spent in the army. After, he was like a cat without claws...
The Beatles because, not only did they sang and play instruments, but wrote their own melodies and lyrics. Lennon and McCartney wrote some of the best contemporary songs.
The Beatles because they grow up artistically while Elvis sank into mediocrity.

the beatles of course. the beatles loved (early) elvis though, so we probably have him to thank for there being the beatles (in some way). i disliked elvis after he told j. edgar hoover/the feds that the beatles were a bad influence on kids.
