I've noticed that reality shows nowadays have really short seasons. When reality TV was first starting to get big, the seasons would last forever, but now, they are over and done with before you know it. Why do you think this is?

Well I wish this were true for Survivor, Big Brother and Idol, but they're still doing those stupid shows like they're Emmy winners! My ar$e they are!

Though you do have a point...though they are constantly churning out new ideas, the shows don't last as long. Mostly because the Tv audience has been exhausted by the lame and stupid reality show formats.....they end up showing the same thing over and over again.

The thing is we enjoy things which have more imagination and creativity in it - shows which we can watch in third person, not have to worry about "audience interaction" where we ring and vote for someone, or such. We just want to watch something interesting and that's it.

I like shows like Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, and comedy shows (local ones in Australia here) like Rove Live, The Glasshouse, and of course "The Chaser's War On Everything". Something that will make us laugh and doesn't insult our intelligence is always bound to be a great show.

BTW.... I thought it was so funny when a TV station here was going to do this reality show which was heavily advertised before it premiered, called "Yasmin's Getting Married!", where it was all about this chick called Yasmin who tries to find a suitable guy to marry in 2-3 months, I think it was (or something like that). I think the idea was that the episodes would have dates/games of her possible suitors. After the first episode the reality show was pulled from air because of poor ratings. The great thing about it though was, because of a contract (I think), the TV station agreed to foot the ENTIRE wedding bill for Yasmin, if and when she got married, no matter what. Now that's awesome.

Yes.. they get boring because too many people are trying to make a dime doing them. They become old news and unoriginal quick. I was never into them and when I happened to catch that "Flavor Flav" Flavor of Love on the air one day my opinion of reality shows (which was already negative to begin with) plummeted even more.

I thought it was just me that noticed that! I can't figure it out maybe they are afraid they will lose veiwers if they last too long or something like that. I liked it better when they had longer seasons.
