Why Burton? There are a ton of great beginner boards out there with out the cost of a new Burton. Go to your local board shop and let the guys there help you make your choice. The feather is a good board but you have to look at weather you really want to learn how to ride. You will progress out of a board like that in a mater of a season. Thus you will have to get a new board next year. Do your home work, don't just go and get a board that your friend rides or suggest. Get the board that's good for you not everyone else.

I don't know where you live or where you are planning to go boarding this season, but a lot of ski shops near the slopes have great 'try it and buy it' deals.

I bought my skis when I lived in New Zealand and I hired lots of different skis from a local ski shop to test them out before I decided which to buy. It's great because you can totally hammer the slopes without worrying that you're damaging your new skis - you then just buy a new pair when you've made your choice, and they deduct the hire prices you've paid from the cost of the new skis! Bargain.

Edge to Edge in Crawley (near Gatwick Aiport) sell quality second hand boards at realistic prices. They've also got a web site that you can check out. www.edge2edge.co.uk
E-bay's also worth looking at, although you only have photos to go on when looking at the condition of the board.

At a ski and snowboard swap. Check the local board stores to find out when they are scheduled.
