The Union's downward slide occurred when Reagan fired the Air Traffic Controllers, and continued as Union Officers failed to see that the US economy was changing from manufacturing to service segment; and that the world market couldn't afford high priced, low quality American goods.

The Union's cry - "More, More, More" - resulted in less, less, less. Management must share the blame. They didn't know how to say "NO" to union demands. They simply outsourced products, closed plants, laid off workers, and recieved obscene salaries/bonuses.

The working man, as always, was caught in the middle.
