I have heard that the old fashioned washers that open on the top actually wash clothes better than the newer ones that open in the front. Is this true?

I have attached a site with the Consumer Reports study done on top versus front loading washing machines- but, as for me, I have always preferred the top loading and it seems to get my clothes cleaner than the front loading.. Really, it all has a lot to do with the quality of the machine and the detergent you are using..

Front loading washers use less water and soap. I still prefer the top loading washer with a good detergent. I get my clothes pretty dirty at times and they seem to get cleaner by using the top loader with Tide Bleach Alternative. I used to like the Maytag washer, but they sold out and left the town of Newton, Iowa. Many people lost their jobs over that deal. Also how would you get parts from a company that is no longer in business. They screwed over their employees, now their past customers will get screwed too.

I have always used the top loading washers unless I went to the laundro-mat then I had to use the front loading ones. I would say the top load ones are better though because you don't have to bend over to load them. Also, it seems like the door is less likely to come open and get water all over the floor.

from experience the top load wash better, but you can put more in the front loader...this is saying a $400.00 top loader and a $600.00 front loader, when you get up into the $1000.00 front loaders, i would hope that they wash better.
