Have you ever heard the Latin name for some other species? For example, a green crab is Carcinius maenus? Well, Homo sapien is just the scientific name for a human!
One quick note on Latin names: the genus, or first word (in this case, Homo), is always capitalized. The species (sapien) is lowercase.
Good luck! :)

Scientific name for the "current" form of human being within it's evolutionary development. Prior iterations included Homo Erectus (first apes to stand up) etc

Dayce - I am a christian also. I didn't say we "are" evolved from apes, I said it was the scientific term derived from this theory...

However, Christians shouldn't ignore everything around them and be dogmatic about their interpretations of the Bible... Science can provide some answers - God intended us to know some of it and by discounting "all" scientists as morons puts Christianity in a very negative light... open the mind God gave you!
