This is something I have never understood, except to believe it is because most Muslims are too AFRAID to speak the truth. They would rather forfeit their freedom to a band of fundamentalist thugs, ot "support" them in the mistaken belief that by so doing, they might somehow, someday be able to accumulate THINGS like many western countries enjoy! Why aren't Muslims of ALL walks of life, but most especially their religious leaders, LOUDLY CONDEMNING barbaric acts by their fundamentalist extremists? Is it because they lack any moral courage at all, or is it because they agree to this insanity? Either way, it undeniably reflects terribly on ALL Muslims. Clearly, beheadings, using power drills on people before shooting them (including infants) in the head, flying planes into buildings for NO reason, etc. are acts of the BARBARIAN and should necessitate the STERNEST response, and that response should be just as hard on those who harbor them. Bush had it right all along! Liberals are weak!

I don't really have that answer, but I liken it to the Germans not speaking out against the Nazis.

Do you publicly condemn "pro life" bombers, christian extremists who believe in religious war, kkk members, CIA torturers etc etc? Well you certainly should condemn these barbaric acts commited in YOUR name! Unless of course you think that using psychological and physical torture to extract a 'confession' out of people is a legitimate thing to do?

If so then you can stop being so hypocritcal and accept that if that is legitimate then what response do those it is perpetrated against have? Should they quietly sit back and accept the hatred directed towards them by westerners? Endure the whisperings of terrorist? The constant suspicious looks? The harrasment at airports? Don't you think that's going to make people a LITTLE bit angry?

Some of them do say it loudly, but they are still never listened to.
I never heard these stories about using power drills and so on before, but if it's true it has to be condemned by everybody of course.
The point is the west only hears what the western media publicizes and the east only hears what the eastern media publicizes and that serves many political plans of course.

Some muslims may be afraid of retaliation from terrorist muslims. I think the problems is the religion itself. The basic belief is the islam should be the only religion and muslims should rule the world.
If you were able to get all muslims to take lie detector tests, you would find their true feelings. Muslims teach that it is OK to lie to Infidels. So, asking them what they think is a waste of time.

I see some answerers falling back to the old "Well everyone else is doing it" excuse. There is no excuse for violence against innocents. If you are to answer a question answer it. Muslims are probably afraid of their own people within the terrorist community. And why not? They are in-discriminant killers of men, women and children.

You have (over)simplified this to the point of unintelligibility. Christians, for example, are weak in addressing the "fundamentalist cancer" among their own ranks...what you speak of is a problem with religion, not with islam.

It's the same reason why the Eastern Europeans stayed silent about the Soviets.

They do speak out against it, the problem is trying to find it and remove the problem.
