David Cameron and the Conservatives are by no means certain to win the next General Election. Their current opinion poll ratings would only give them a 5-7 seat majority in the House of Commons, and doesn't take into account any upswing by Labour when Tony Blair leaves office (as happened to the Conservatives in 1990 when Margaret Thatcher was ejected) or any rise in the poll ratings of the Liberal Democrats, who, historically, tend to take more votes of the Conservative Party than the Labour Party.

Harold Wilson said "a week is a long time in politics", and given that there will not be a General Election before 2008, more likely 2009, that means that opinion polls at this stage are pretty irrelevant.

I wouldn't count on that. Cameron is just another ‘Yes Man’ in waiting to the US Administration. I have voted Conservative through thick and thin for Decades but this time I, and many of the Conservative 'supporters' I know, will not be voting Conservative again while the likes of Cameron and his cowardly, short sighted, pro-fascist policies are around.

You are very naive about British politics. A majority the size that labouir has is very difficult to overturn. I think the best the conservatives could hope for is to force a hung parliament that would probably result in a Lib-Lab coalition. Obviously the tories will claim they are going to win and so will Labour. Those of us who are able to look at it objectively and study how voting behaviour works are able to make a realistic call.

probable David Cameron will win the subsequent election, i don't think Labour will win returned yet human beings nevertheless bear in ideas the bitter flavor of Margaret Thatcher, yet asserting that persons are so worried approximately GB and the quantity of Immigration we've and Terrorist danger who's accustomed to we would even finally end up with the BNP who're prevailing greater seats and lengthening in popularity. i don't in hassle-free terms like the racist ingredient, yet some rules make experience like, all ambulances, police autos, etc would be British made making jobs for British human beings and helping our economic equipment. i've got faith in putting human beings born right here despite their dermis colour, first in keeping with risk i might make a greater valuable best Minister LOL

Not convinced they are. There are probably 3 years to go..a long long time and a lot can happen. No one knows what kind of policies the torys will have at the next election, neither do we know which side the papers like 'the sun' will be on when it comes.

Yup. Its because Blair has ruined the reputation of the labour party and Prescott is even worse. I'm sure you know how it works though, the election after next everyone will hate the conservatives and will want labour back.

Uh, oh! Bad grammar again! Nothing in politics is certain. Many conservatives are in tight races. All politicians realize they have to do or say something to interest voters. They all try everything.
No one goes into an election year thinking things are sewed up.

They are certain to fail. Unfortunately for them and fortunately for us there are still a majority of voters who remember Thatcher and the damage she done to the country.
David Cameron could have a future as a children's TV presenter but he certainly doesn't have a future as a leader of men.
