put in on lock mode by flicking the switch at the top .then switch it back again.
hold the middle button and the play button down for 6 seconds and it should reset itself.
this happens to mine all of the time and this method allways works.

Turn off and disconnect your iPod then restart your computer (reboot). Once your computer is up and running again connect your iPod to the computer. If the iPod is still frozen and or still wants to be in disk mode. You might be able to go into iTunes assuming you have the latest iTunes installed and click on the name of your iPod i.e. Joe's iPod and click Restore for your iPod. This will restore your iPod just like it had just come out of the box. I highly recommend you back up all your music first and take all your music from your computers hard drive and save it all to a separate file on your hard drive. Save this new file of music on some part of your hard drive that has nothing to do with the My Music folder on your hard drive. Once you have copied and backed up all your music then restore your iPod as above. Then if iTunes does not automatically open up you can unplug the iPod and plug it back in again. If it does not automatically transfer all your music back to the iPod. Then drag and drop all your backed up music back to the My Music folder (if necessary) and then also drag and drop all your music into your iTunes Library. Then sync or update your iPod. I hope any of that helps maybe.
