I don't think that Harry is the one who will die and/or kill Voldermort. I think it will be Neville who will be killed while killing him.

But Ms. Rowling hasn't yet given me any special information. I sure would love to chat with that woman. She is such a brilliant writer.

I think there's a 50/50 chance. :)

What would Rowling gain by killing Harry Potter? From a storytelling point of view, main characters only die off if they are serving a greater good.

If Voldemort wins, that would leave the whole series on a downer note, right? If Harry wins, that would put the series on a whole upper note.

What if Rowling is going for a literary bend? She might kill Potter.

I'm hoping Harry makes it, but if he doesn't he goes out in a way that makes sense. It made very little sense for her to kill the last main character in book six.

However, if she'd kill him, Harry might not be long for the literary world.

We'll find out soon. :)

Yes. J. K. Rowling always maintained that there would be seven books. If Harry is alive at the end of the series, people will always be hoping for more stories. If Harry dies, then it wouldn't be realistic for there to be a eighth book if it is extremely obvious at the end of the seventh that he was dead. By killing Harry, she will also be able to maintain Harry as her own, and writers will not be able to write sequels (poor, successful or whatever because who's going to want to read a story with a character who has been resurrected?) once her copyright rights on the characters and storyline expires - which is usually 50 years after a author's death.

I sure hope not. I think J.K. Rowling would be a total fool if she decides to kill him off. Harry Potter is a wonderful character/hero and I know I would certainly like to see stories about him years from now when the character is an adult and well into his 20s or 30s. That would be so hot. And very interesting.

okay, here's my theory. I think that in order for voldermort to die then Harry has to die too, due to them being linked... So yes I reckon the in the last book both Harry and Voldermort will die simultaneously....

Also J.K.Rowling has said that there will be no more HP after the next book, no Harry Potter the uni years etc...

When does the book come out???

I seriously hope not. It would be horrible if Harry died.
Gosh.... I can't believe the next book'll probably be the last one. I soooooooo don't want it to end....
By the way, about Bodieann's answer; there's something that I'd like to clarify. In these books it has been mentioned very clearly, that one must die if the other wants to stay alive (talking about Harry and Voldermort). So, if Harry dies it means that Voldermort will be alive and that's something that we all know shouldn't happen.

I think so because J.K is only writing 7 books for the series and everyone would want to find out about his life after school otherwise. But maybe she will decide to write another series about his life after school but that would never sell as much or be as good as the origenal series. I don't want Harry to die but he probably will

Nope, I don't think so, well... I'm hoping J.K.Rowling won't kill Harry Potter, after all HP been through she's going to kill him, it doesn't make sense.

That's what I've heard. I heard she is going to kill him off so no one else can carry on the series. Now, how selfish is that? If she's willing to dissappoint millions of readers for a reason like that, then she's not such a great author after all. Why can't she just continue it herself? (I'm a little bitter over the situation)

Hi. Yes, he will. She is tired of this huge machine she has created. She would like to try some new projects. She can well afford to do what she bloody well wants, so, I think poor Harry is a goner. :(
