The nines like you just have to remember that the last digit decreases by one very time multiply by a larger number. Just look at the sequence:
9x1=9
9x2=18
9x3=27
If you like foortball, you should know 2 touchdowns(with the extra points) =14. And 5 touchdowns ryhems, it's 35. In other words all multiples of 5 either rhyme, or end in "0." 5x4=20
1 x that#= that#
0 x that#= 0
2 x an even# = even number
2 x an odd# = even number BECAUSE ANY number plus itself = an even number
3 is a "little brother of 9 and 6." 3 will go into every number that 6 and 9 will. THIS is because you can divide 3 into 6 and 9 to get a whole number. Memorize these multiples. 3,6,9,12,15,18,21,24,27,30,33,36.
Don't think that every multiple of 3 can be divided by 9 or 6, because they can't. Just remember that 3 is the little brother of 6 and 9.
4 is the bigger brother of 2. 2 will go into All mutiples of 4 evenly. these multiples are 4,8,12,16,20,24,28,32,36,40.
10 x anything = that number with a 0 at the end. So take 9 x 10, it's equal 90. 10 x 123 = 1230. 10 x 6945= 69450!

Several ways, the best way is first to learn the ones with what we call keys, example, when ever you are 11 x a number, example 11x 7, how much is 7+1? 8 put the 8 in the middle answer is 181, any number just add and put in the middle, the key for 9x goes up 9 18 27 36 for the total of the 2 numbers but the single number goes down, several keys you can learn easy the rest of them you will have to learn by practice, so 1x for sure you know and probably 2x and 10x simple also, amd for 5x you just use 10 x and cut in half, and now you have the key for 9 and 11 so you only have to memorize the other 6! good luck

try making flashcards...and here are some interesting tips:
x's 1 = itself (12 x 1 = 12)
x's 2 = even number (12 x 2 = 24)
x's 5 = the answer will end in 5 or 0 (9 x 5 = 45 & 12 x 5 = 60)
x's 9 = use your fingers to help you with this one, hold up both your hands. for the problem 9 x 4 = ? count from left to right on your hands in front of you until you get to the fourth finger (index on your left) and put it down. then count the number of fingers to the left (3) and then to the right (6) then put the two numbers side by side (36) and that is the answer to your problem
x's 10 = the answer will end in 0 (12 x 10 = 120)

Look for patterns.
x2 and x4. If you know x2 then x4 is double of all answers then 8 times table is double that!
3 and 6 the same idea!
5 and 10 and 9 tend to be the easier ones. I tell the children in my class the toughest one is x7 after you know 2, 5 and 10 which are quite simple. You need to practise 7 more.

have a poster of them on the wall. repetion. tape yourself and play the tape back ,or get a tape or cd with them in song mode,as songs are easy to remember.
find games to play . my daughter had littlecards which helped. i made them , on on side of a piece of card you write or type all the multiples out, e.g 1 X2, 2 X2, and then the answers on the other. cut the cards , so that each set looks like 2 puzzle pieces. then with a pile of questions laid out, shuffle the answers and put them in place. perhaps start by using the correct order, and then to check that you really know them , you can mix it up. this helps as , the shapes give clues,and you are essentially playing a memory game,which is what you need to learn the times table.
good luck, it will be well worth the effort to learn them , as new maths will be quicker if you are good at them.

Go to BBC skillswise and there is a really good times table game on there which requires you to think of your tables really quickly. It allows u to choose the table you want to do either against the clock or not!! Learn them they will really help u xxx

9 is easy :)
Hold your hands up. Say want 4x9.
Close fourth finger.
So have three and six. Thirty six. :)
In my younger days I learnt my 13x for fun. Must have been bored.
Also remember that 4x9 is also 9x4. So if you get stuck to remember can always use the other table! (Not just for 9x) :)
You can also draw a grid out of 12 x 12 and you can do each table in a grid reference. So you can test yourself quick.
Supersam: Oh yes, forgot that one.
Another thing you can do is at school play Fizz-Buzz going around the class. You have to count 1, 2, 3.... etc and if say 4x and 9x when a multiple of 4x say Fizz and when 9x say Buzz. We used to have to do this in the remaining minutes if our Maths lesson ended a little early.

Write out three facts and learn them one day, learn the next three the next day etc.
Draw a grid and write in the answers only after you have learnt them and you will see that each time you learn one fact you have actually learnt two - ie, 2x3=6, 3x2=6.
