... say it anyway: Why do I feel such a strong bond and camaraderie with all you good people on Y!A, especially when we don’t even know each other that well? ... And no, it is NOT because I am drunk, high, overly sensitive, mentally ill, dysfunctional, naive, co-dependent, bored, recovering from a traumatic event, or was ever underprivileged, religious, an atheist, looking for cheap thrills, in desperate need of joining a social club, "necessarily" a nerd (lol), or even lacking good friends in real life (in fact, much to the contrary). It's just that being here in the company of all you wonderful people, "somehow" makes me feel tremendously thankful for the opportunity. Sort of like a sweet addiction, but not exactly. ... Please don't take me wrong, it is not that I am questioning this great feeling at all, but sometimes I wish I had a better grasp of why exactly that is. ... Thanks for your perspectives, in advance.

I find it hard to believe that you can have such a strong bond with all the people in Q&A. Its more realistic to say that you can have strong bonds with several people with whom you've had the oportunity and the time to develop special relationships and are able to share your ideas and thoughts .Maybe with some of these people you are able to connect more
because their perspective and dealing with issues is more similar to your
morale and your way of thinking.

On the other hand, for the rest of us who enjoy participating in this manner maybe its because we are able to fulfil certain of our needs by
expressing and sharing our thoughts with others. Most importantly we can do this at our convenience, in a pleasurable way.
Thus we find ourselves sitting in chairs keyboard at hand taking charge
challenging ourselves to a journey which takes us to the most unreachable
corners of the minds of others. Then we know, that this is an experience that had it not been for this "hierarchical officious (eager to render our
services to others, in an arcaic sense) oracle, we would have never been able to have the opurtunity to do so, another place another time.

For some it's fun, for others is soul cleansing for others its a game, for others a friend or a group of friends.
And as long as this need doesn't become overpowering and overcharging I see
nothing wrong with being able to be the center of attention even if that lasts as long as a click.

I think it's because over time the people you have contact with on line become so familiar that you emotionally connect. Even tho you are just reading the words on the screen, after awhile you come to recognize that persons personality, feel their mood through their writing. You will find that even though you've never met in person, you do pass judgment over the words you read and decide "I like this person", or "I don't care to have contact with this person".

It may just be that you have the need or desire to know how other people think and feel. It's very interesting to observe human behavior(for me at least). It gives you a far greater degree of diversity to know the thoughts and opinions of people all around the world whom you've never even met before. That's just my observation.

The anonymity helps doesn't it. Would you be comfortable saying this to a group of your friends or colleagues in a room?

Thanx

it doesn't make any difference what kind of mood you're in, or what happened that day, or what state of life you are....here you will always find SOMEONE who understands where you're coming from!.....that's my 2 cents worth, now i'm off to dallas.
