It takes a set amount of energy to move air through the radiator. An electric cooling fan will still require energy from the engine to operate (via increased alternator/battery load).
There may be some "ease" on the engine, but gas mileage won't be affected.

I would say it would be a toss up. You would think the electric fan would be easier on the gas mileage because it is run by an electric motor instead of a belt powered by the engine. But when the electric fan kicks in it will draw amps to run it which are supplied by the alternator which is run by a belt powered by the engine. The more amps the alternator has to deliver the harder it will be for the engine to spin the alternator. It would probably be best to stick with whatever the car manufacturer installed on the vehicle in the first place.

An electric fan takes the load off the engine, but depending on what size engine it is, you might not notice a difference. There is a reason most every new car comes with an electric fan on it from the factory. I do think you'd see a bigger advantage on a 4 cylinder than a V-8 engine. I convert my cars over to an electric fan when possible.

Ultimately, in theory, an electric will help the mileage the most, but I don't believe it's going to make a significant difference. My truck has both, which I prefer for redundancy, and the a/c stays cool while in stop and go traffic which is nice.

yes, just as long as its wired correctly, you cant just hook up an electric fan direct to the battery as this will over amp and burn out the fan motor it must be connected through a circuit of equal voltage and current required for that specific fan. However electric fans have a tendancy of going bad and causing the car to over heat,Therefor I would suggest keeping the clutch drive they are much more reliable.

There won't be much difference, electric will drain batt and then Alternator will run more to charge it ,clutch uses energy from the engine so they probably will not make much difference, if you have the space then a larger Rad. might keep engine cooler and so save on power consumption
