I just had a thought that whatever story I make up and write, whatever lives I make for the characters - might they they have a real life in some other universe? Might I be the author of a whole world in my imagination? Might whatever I write dictate the lives of my characters in an alternate reality? Might I, in fact, be some sort of God in another world? It really made me think...

May I say that I don't take and despise drugs? This is just a question that interests me.

Great answers so far, except for the drugs one. Anyone read "Marianne Dreams" by Catherine Storr, about a convalescent girl who draws in a book with a special pencil and those dreams become a kind of reality?

Is it possible that some aspiring novelist with a great imagination is writing about our lives (on another plane)?

wow, I thought I was the only one who wondered about weird stuff like that LOL!
There was a book I read once, and I am sure someone here could tell you what it was... it's quite cool. It centers around a little boy who they put in this special school or something, and he plays video games. Only, the video games he is playing are real. Somewhere, there is a battle going on and he is commanding the actual soldiers... quite a thought. Not so far fetched now a days either.
Good question... it's nice to see other people who actually take a moment to think about things like that on here.

Not so crazy. Look at the structure of an atom. It looks just like a miniature solar system, no? So what if it is? And what if there's a planet in, say, a hydrogen atom that is populated with life like ours, only on a nano level? And what if OUR solar system is just an atom in a macro universe, beyond our comprehension? Huh? What about that?
I could go on, but then someone would tell ME to get back on my meds....

I have always pondered the theroy of alternate dimensions of our world but slighty different in each one. For example, Germany winning WW2 (that wouldnt be a very nice one to live in) or animals being able to talk like us? the possablities are endless. I can see how it relate to your question, It could be propable any fictional character from Captian Kirk to He man, or the characters you create could excist in a alternate dimesion to our own, but in this dimesion they are fictional characters, and this is how our dimensions are linked on some level.

is it a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. Space ships and laser light swords. 7 foot tall big foot like creature and a boy with a destiny......you should get to writing quickly this could be a block buster movie or 6 if you divided it up. You could make millions...damn if I could have only thought of it first!

A-ha... or vice versa :-)... In any case you made me respond so you have some control at least.
I guess learning about the string theory may give you some clues, hope and desperation... But the bottom line is that you'll never know in this life... if there is a real one that is!
