If you were overdue for the shot and had unprotected sex during that time or within seven days after getting it, using emergency contraception will help prevent pregnancy. It can be used up to 120 hours (five days) after unprotected sex, but the sooner you take it the more likely it is to be effective. So if you have some on hand, take it right away.

Otherwise, call your caregiver without delay. If getting help from your caregiver isn't an option, you can get information about emergency contraception and find a provider to prescribe it by calling (888) 668-2528 or (888) NOT-2-LATE, or by visiting the Emergency Contraception Website.

If you get the shot before you leave the hospital or during the first five days of your period, you don't need to use a backup method. If you start at any other time, you'll need to use a backup method, such as condoms, for at least the first week.

If you're practicing the lactational amenorrhea method (LAM) — that is, you're exclusively breastfeeding your baby around the clock, are less than six months postpartum, and haven't started menstruating yet — then you're already 98 percent protected from becoming pregnant. Though it's unlikely that you'll get pregnant, it's still a good idea to err on the side of caution and use a backup method for the first week after getting the shot.

If you are on Depo, you are probably fine. For the Morning After Pill, time is very important. For it to be 90%+ effective, you need to take it within 3 days of the incident. Right now, on the federal level, it was granted behind the counter status, but it won't be available as that for another few months. When it does flip to behind the counter it can only be sold without a prescription by a pharmacist or other medical professional. Some states have granted it either behind the counter or over the counter status. Depending on where you live, you might need a prescription or not.
Plan B is generally not sold at WalMart. Check your local pharmacies to see if it is in stock. I know Plan B is not a cheap drug, it is still rather new and on patent. You can also use tri-cyclic birth control pills to obtain the same effect.

I trust Emily ok. that's how the pill works. And being on antibiotics makes the beginning administration pill ineffective, not being sick. yet i does not challenge, you assert you have been on the pill for 8 months and that's plenty long sufficient for the pill to be working correct mutually with your equipment. And feeling sick is probable merely out of your pills, many women persons sense sick after taking their pill. additionally, your cycle is not at all going to be the comparable. meaning one month you could sense sick such as you do now and then next month you're completely moody and function cramps. Then the subsequent month your breasts might soreness, its not at all the comparable. one in all various joys of womanhood LOL. And as a strategies via fact the morning after pill is going i does not worry you have been solid with taking your pill often used and on the comparable time. each and all the morning after pill does is reset your physique clock. i've got taken it formerly, one pill interior the am and the different at night formerly mattress. that is merely meant to provide up you from ovulating, that is like a effectual beginning administration pill. And your already on the pill, so no concerns. desire this permits. :o)

Call your local pharmacy. Not sure if this option is safe if you're breastfeeding.
