Maybe some of the restaurants that serve the peanuts. There are some around here....Kentucky. You eat the peanuts then just throw the shell on the floor. Maybe they would let you have the ones they sweep up.

Try cracked pecan shells. They're great and last a long time. Try your local
landscape soil supply company ( not nursersy). If not, try shredded tree
mulch. Home improvement stores sell bagged mulch. Don't go out of your
way for the peanut shells - they are no more beneficial than the above.

Is there a Roadhouse Restaurant near you or one where people eat the peanuts & throw the shells out?
I also saw a neat idea for mulch made from recycled tires in a catalogue. It does everything you need mulch to do without breaking down so easy.

If you have a Logans Roadhouse Steakhouse where you live, you might be able to get empty peanut shells there. They offer peanuts to their guests while they wait for tables. Serves them at the tables too...after all, it's for mulch right? no harm in using, used peanut shells the, right?

Another alterative to peanut shells that would be easier to obtain is used coffee or tea grounds. They make a great fertilizer for roses & other plants. It offers slow release nitrogen. Coffee has an acidic character so you may want to add crushed limestone with applications. (Limestone is unnecessary for acid loving plants.) Coffee grounds are known to encourage worms & repel a lot of pests from plants.

The trash luggage were used to save grass and weeds from growing contained in the beds, this does not artwork for lengthy. The wind and birds will drop weed seeds contained in the mulch mattress and then you've the acceptable surroundings, darkish and moist, for the fashion of weeds again. this is better now to not use any barriers and save mulch round flora and over the entire mattress. If weeds pop up, disguise with extra mulch to smother them or use round Up Spray to kill them. you'll hate your self years from now after employing a barrier, they are terrible to get rid of and fairly are not useful at conserving the weeds at bay.

Contact a local bar and have them save them for you. Certainly they would ablige you.

Also, as an alternative, many power companies will dump the mulch from tree trimming at specific locations and advertise it for free. Contact your local power company for information.
