They can.... im living proof, the person that needs to change, has to realise that they need to, and then has to be willing to take the steps, to start their own processes to changing.....that is the only way it happens.....
In 10 years i have gone from being a highschool dropout overweight loser with no future prospects, who also couldnt drive, and had no permanent relationships/friendships......
to an university educated nursing sister, that is well on her way to health, and have been working as a community nurse for 5 years....i now have a license, have great friends i wouldnt be without and am married to a lovely man........
Beleive me, change comes from within.....you just have to want to do it.....

I'm too old to change is a cop out. The only person anyone can change is themselves, but in saying that if you change your tactics then you can change another persons behaviour, eg, An insecure woman will cry at the drop of a hat when she needs the attention....the spouse feels bad so hugs her until she is happy again. This behaviour may drive the spouse mad, but he continues to react the same way every time, so the wife is getting what she wants by a particular behaviour...this behaviour will never change until you change how you react. So while you cannot change another person....the change in yourself and your tactics can have a snow ball effect and with time and consistency you can get a person to change the way the other person behaves and unltimately how they think. Why change your behaviour when it gets you what you want? If you change and your parnter cares enough about you, then they will change as well....but it takes time and consistency.
Everyone has the capability to change no matter how old they are, but one person has to change first before the other person will listen or want to change.

Nobody is too old for change! People of all ages do it everyday. Sometime change can be a good thing, sometimes not. Change, like beauty, is it the eye of the beholder.

People can change but the other's are right... only if they want to change. Not only do they want to they have to want to remain changed. People often think that they can change someone and we want them to change so badly to make us fel better, that we tend to pull the best that they do and hold tight to it but have they really changed.
An alcoholic can change and not drink but he is an alcoholic for life... once that desire to remain changed stops... he returns to what he was and is. Change is a good thing but to remain changed is the challenge.

People can change if that is what they really want to do. Most people don't want to and they just don't want to admit it. My thought is that as long as you are happy with yourself and you are not hurting anyone then why change. If you truly love someone then why have them change, unless someone is getting hurt? Love is loving someone for there good and bad qualities.

People can change, but in their own time. Anyone forced to change won't be changed for long. It is best for you to change and not expect the other person to change. You cannot control other people, just yourself.

Some people are happy just the way they are and have no desire to change while others are not and are willing to do something about it. It all depends on the person.

people can change at any age, but only if they want to change. it is harder to change the older you get, but it is not impossible.
Never get seriously involved with someone, however, that you hope will change. You cannot make anyone else change and there is no guarantee that person will do it.

Where there's a will, there's a way.
People can change. But much much *will* and persistence is needed.
About 99% of people can't change. Probably don't find a reason.

People can change but you can't change people. They must see a need for change before it will happen and if they don't then they won't.
