Something like a remake of new songs with a jazz or blues melody to them. Is there a cd like that out there?

It's not unusual for jazz or blues covers for popular music to be made. But it does take a little time.
The best example I can think of is George Benson's "The Other Side of Abbey Road" which was recorded three weeks after The Beatles release.
To look for covers of songs you like try Allmusic.com and use the searches.

{This CD contains the first look at teh new wave of young Jazz artists that Concord Records will be releasing in early 2006.

Erin Boheme, 'What I love' in stores April 4, 2006
Taylor Eigsti ' Lucky to be me' in stores March 28, 2006

Duke Robillard, Dukes Blues.

This album is a combination of blues and jazz with some swing too. The whole album is amazing. Duke is a master guitarist. If I understand what your asking for, then you should really try this album.
