I knew a person that said that she could only wear digital watches due to her body making analogs run fast and ruining them? Is this possible or was I fooled?

The heat from your body can thin the lubricants in an analog watch and make it run slightly faster. However, modern watches and lubricants just will not change much with body heat. Therefore, I think that your friend was either mistaken or playing a little joke on you.

An analog watch usually has a wound spring and an escapement mechanism to meter energy release from the spring (and keep time!). Because the watch is usually worn on the wrist (with a watchband) and the wrist is one place that the pulse can be taken because the vein is close to the skin surface, the pulse could interfere with the watch escapement. It would be like a child on a swing propelling him/herself while an adult tries to speed (or slow) him down. Any pulse coming near a tic could affect the toc, right? Some people solve the problem by wearing the watch on the opposite wrist (which may have a weaker pulse in that location). They even sell wristwatches that monitor the pulse!

To be precise the words analog and digital relate to the display (face) of the watch not the mechanism. You can have a quartz mechanism with an analog display or a digital display but you cannot have a mechanical (spring) operation with a digital display.

Most quartz operated watches are more accurate than spring operated ones. There are wide ranges of quality in both types.
