Was it a seedy third World country and you knew you had that pot in your bag? Was it a close call with the police? A misguided hike gone bad?

Have you ever had any close calls on the road?

I got quite lost in Tokyo on a backpacking trip and during this day of misguided nature I was given the wrong advice on a bullet train... Long story short I ended up 250km on the other side of Japan and my hostel was now a shocking 400km away.

I was so worried as no one spoke English and this was the first Country I was backpacking on my own since leaving home. I ended up making friends with the conductor after he realized my situation (using lots of hand gestures and maps) and I ended sleeping the night in a small conductors shack with this little old Japanese man. I made it home late the next day with a great story to tell and a pair of unclean underwear.

Maybe not the most dangerous story. But when it is your first time travelling without family and you are on your own in a Country that speaks very little of your language, it is frightening enough!!
