Some people sure do give a lot of solids to their young ones, and I'm sure it's working well for them, but at this young an age, their diet is still mainly breastmilk or formula. Everyone will have done something different, so do what you feel makes the most sense, especially since they have such tiny stomachs. Here is what "menu" I use :
Early morning : (If he/she goes back to sleep right after feeding) just the bottle or breast)
Breaksfast :Baby Cereal and breast/or bottle (after about 1-2 weeks I gave cereal twice a day)
Lunch: Breast or Bottle (added veggies at about 6 months)
Afternoon: Breast or Bottle
Supper: Baby Cereal (added fruit at about 7 months)
Breast or Bottle before bed
It will also depend on your baby's appetite, my 7 month old son feeds 5 times a day (since 5 months), and sleeps right through the night from 9pm-8am, and still has 2-3 naps a day. I don't let 4hrs pass without a feed. Good Luck and hopefully you find something that works well for the both of you!

At this age most babies only eat a small amount, I gave my kids only half of the stage one jars you buy at the supermarket at first. I gave them porridge for breakfast, a yoghurt for lunch then again half a jar of whatever dinners I bought. Of course still giving them their regular bottle feed aswell, although with meal I would give them some baby juice in a beaker to get them used to drinking from a cup. I always used organic products for my girls, you could also try giving your baby a biscuit suitable for their age to hold onto and let them practice gripping things and feeding themselves, they love that. Most of all though be patient, most of the food will end up on their faces nothing to worry about, they catch on quick, remember this is all new to them! It can be quite funny! Your baby may eat alot or may eat very little, just keep feeding him/her until you can tell if they are full up or not. You'll have good and bad days, think what you can be like yourself, eat alot one day then have not much of an appetite the next. Good luck!

At first he'll eat semi-liquid cereal mix just once a day. By around 8 months he should be eating solid foods three times a day. A typical day's diet at this point might consist of Breast milk or iron-fortified formula, Iron-fortified cereal, Small amounts of non-citrus juice, Yellow and green vegetables, Fruits, Small amounts of proteins such as poultry, cottage cheese, tofu, and meat.
There are certain foods that you shouldn't give your baby just yet. And commonly allergenic foods such as peanut butter, cows' milk, shellfish, and egg whites should also be avoided for a year or more, depending on how careful you want to be about potential allergies.
Don't overfeed your baby. Watch for clues that he's full.

usually 2 jars per day of the stage 1 food. 1 for lunch and one for dinner..do veggies first..for breakfast i would do a small amount of cereal. instead of using water use the baby's formula. make sure they get at least 4 oz of formula. Some will take more, just depends on the baby and how much they want.

I breastfed my children and they don't start eating any food until 6 months. At that time, it's only plain cereal, a few teaspoons a day to make sure there aren't any allergies. After you have determined the baby can tolerate the cereal, then you can move to plain veggies like carrots, peas, etc. Again, a small amount of one type of veggie exclusively for a week to check for allergies.

My baby just turned 6 months old and I give her cereal and fruit when she wakes up. Usually I mix the fruit with her cereal to make it sweeter.
After 2-3 hours later I give her a bottle and she ususally only drinks about 2 bottles(6oz) durring the day.
In the evening I give her some vegitables. She likes green vgitables the best.
And just before bed I give her another bottle.

She gets breakfast cereal and fruit
lunch a veggie and fruit
snack a fruit
and dinner a veggie and a fruit.
Before bed she gets a little cereal.
along with this solid food she hits the breast about every 4-6 hours and definatly before her naps/bedtime.
(No she isn't fat she is 7 months now and only weighs 19 lbs, and is 28 inches tall)
