Why is it so wrong for a man to strike a woman? (please read full question)?

I witnessed a full on fight in the streets last night from my window and during the altercation the woman who started it all for no reason (from what I saw) went full on berserk on this guy and his g/f. Now, this guy tried to restrain the woman without violence but she kept going nuts and hitting him and beating his g/f. Eventually he got fed up and pushed the girl to the ground hard, this is when 4 other males from the watching audience saw that as wrong and teamed up to beat this guy silly.

Eventually this guy broke free and rescued his g/f from the beating she was getting from the original insane girl and he once again punched her to the ground.......

This went on for a while, but the question is why is it so wrong for a male to protect himself against a woman in a situation like that? Are we as men not able to protect ourselves when we have tried every other civil option??

In those circumstances, Realm, I can't help but agree. It isn't wrong for a male to defend himself.
I used to work in the misery industry....(advice work) ....and the emphasis was always on men hitting women. Nobody ever considered the plight of men being beat up by women. For a start....no man ever likes to admit to it........but the problem exists.

You've done a good thing posting this question, and for noticing and having doubts about it in the first place.

Yes you should be able to protect yourself. But you have to keep in mind that as a man you are able to hit MUCH harder than a woman. I don't see anything wrong (under the circumstances you described) for the guy to push her, try to restrain her, or maybe even slap her. But when it comes to a guy "punching" a woman that's a total NO! I think what he should have done would have been restrain her, I'm sure he would have been strong enough, and have his girlfriend run to a safe place. Then he could release her and maybe get assistance from someone in the crowd that was watching.

as a woman, I agree with you, for one thing . I would not hit a man unless im willing to be hit back. I think where the whole idea that its not ok, comes from 2 things. In the past wife beating and controll was quite prevelent,but we as a whole have came a long way .and number 2...other cultures where it is custom for the man to completely dominate the woman,,,keep her supressed.Well my theory is,times have changed , we have cried and protested to be treated equally and now that we are it should apply to bad as well as good....ect..You gonna act like a man,Im gonna treat you like a man!.Sorry to tell ya ladies but if you are going to act violent and raise your fist to a man He has every right to Knock You On Your A**!

for the most part, men are physically stronger. There may be a few manly butches out there that can give a giant a run for his money, but for the most part, a male has the advantage. AND A MAN HAS TO BE RESPONSIBLE WITH THAT STRENGTH.

well in that case it wrong for anyone to hit anybody. that lady was wrong to go nuts she shouldn't have gone mad but the man was patient and good but that;s good however there are misunderstandings where those other two guys beat up that other guy. so overall that guy was being patient but it was misunderstood and it is never right to hit anyone

Best suggestion. Leave the women to scrap and go join a monastry where you can live in peace and read velumn manuscripts for a living. :-)
