Well.. i think that it either shows lack of money, or lack of careing. I had my mattress on my floor for about a month, but too many bugs got on it and i freaked out and got some box springs.

I find that sleeping on the floor, with just a quilt for a mattress is more comfortable for me. Of course, I wake up feeling much better although I have a huge bed with a very expensive and comfortable mattress (the mattress is top quality and all of my ladyfriends want to buy one like it). What you might find is that you can't fall off the bed! (humor) Yes, it's as normal or weird as you feel.

I did it when I was young. Couldn't afford the frame. lol
Some people like the hardness for their backs. Varies from person to person. some people like the height of the bed with the firmness...Great for overnight guest--the ever so popular air mattress on the floor--sleeps well actully better than the couch bed. But on the most part I would say NO. :-)

In ancient times, there were no beds. People slept on grass, sand, or pure dirt. In other parts of the world, people don't sleep on mattresses. They slept on wooden floors or just a piece of thin cover.
It's possible that you're just trying to link to your past (since our kind has been sleeping on the floor for a longer time than we have been sleeping on mattresses or beds), and if you find it more comfortable in sleeping that way... then I think you're quite normal.

they might have a bad back and think this is better for them. Or they might be short of money and unable to afford a bed base. Or they just might not be at all interested in home decor and interiors and think that a mattress is perfectly good for sleeping on.
I've been in the same situation - I had to get rid of my old bedstead as the springs broke, and I haven't got round to buying a new bedstead, though one is now on order from the manufacturer.

There is no such creature as 'normal,' there is only 'averages.'
Is it usual? would be a better question. 'usual' - where?
Generally, it is not 'usual,' but then, why do you ask?
It tells me nothing about the person who sleep on a mattress on a floor, but it offers a great deal of suggestions as to the possible reasons for it........
Without a bed
Bad back
Poverty
Burglar stole the bed
Oriental traditionalist
Practising going camping
A Fear of high Places
The ceiling is too low
Trying to be cool / oddball / different / experimentalist
Alternate lifestyle leader
A nutter
Someone trying to scare away potential bed partners.....!

Yeah its normal. Your just used to seeing people sleeping on beds.
anyways, this tells me that the person is used to sleeping on the floor and may have already found their comfort that it doesnt matter whether he/she sleeps on it or not.
Not necessarily do all poor people sleep like tht. I've seen people in houses tht sleep on floor itself. Maybe they were brought up, at the time, where their families had no beds as well... who knows.
I also heard that if u do .. u tend to become 'less' lazier when u wake up in the morning(/whenever)

yes, some people may just prefer sleeping just on a mattress without a bed. It does not necessarily mean they dont have money or they're strange. We are all different.

It's perfectly normal. It could mean the person can't afford a bed, doesn't like beds, doesn't want to bother their neighbours with squeaky bedsprings, wants to co-sleep more safely with their child...any number of things. If it bothers you, ask the person in question.
