Why are the mikoshi (mini shrines) parading in the streets of Tokyo on 9-17-06?

Shinto followers believe that it serves as the vehicle of a divine spirit in Japan at the time of a parade of deities.

I think the festival is Nedu shrines festival.

The mikoshi was moving to Nedu shrines.

Why are they parading?
I don't know the correct reason.
It's said that Shinto deity get on the Mikoshi to move to shrines.

It's a holiday weekend. This holiday is respect for the elderly. A number of local shrines put on matsuri -festivals in which they carry the mikoshi - portable shrine.

Matsuri with mikoshi take place all the time all over Japan.

not only Sep.17. They hold mikoshi parade around this season.

I don't know why. but maybe it is because of Equinox.
Probably you will see similar parading in March again.
