i am thinking of getting a Wii (or preordering it), but cannot find out whether to play it, i need one of those hi-definition tv's to play it on. because the worst thing that could happen is that i get the bloody thing and then need to spend however much on a hi-def tv. can someone find out for me please?

You won't need a Hi-Definition tv for the Wii.

The thing is, you don't actually need a HiDefinition tv for any of the next generation consoles. The XBox 360 and the PS3 will transmit a HiDefinition picture to an HD TV if you have one and select in the menu for it to do so, but neither of them actually need a HD TV in order for you to play the games. And neither does the Wii.

So if you fancy a Wii I recommend that you pre-order one, I think it will be an awesome console and I can't wait for it to come out on December 8th.

No, the Wii does not even support HDTV I'm afraid to say. The PS3 and 360 support HDTV. The graphic for the Wii are not the big selling point, the game-play is the main selling point for the Wii. If you want a system with outstanding graphics and 1080 HDTV support, then go with the PS3, the 360 supports HDTV, but not a full 1080.

some of the above people really dont know much...(no offence). NONE of the 3 consoles coming out requre an HD TV. The PS3 and XBOX 360 have the ability to play games on HD TV's, but they can ALL work on normal tv's aswell. so no worries.

If so, get an HD, the tv is definitely worth it, and the prices are coming down. I haven't heard it requiring HD though. I can't imagine they'd alienate so many of their fans by doing that.

It should be an awesome system, simply for the fact you can download any Nintendo game ever made.

I dont think so, if you do im b*****d too. The only things you need a HD telly for are the PS3, A HD/DVD player and any other HD ready things.

If you are worried then contact Nintendo.
