I guess by now you can see why your parents aren't together... keep doing what you are doing with People to People. do you belong to a community organization that may help funding (church) or help by having a benefit drive.. what about grand parents??

your dad is probably depressed. Divorce, that's a real bummer. It might be a good idea to call him to let him know that you love him, and like to spend time with him, just because he is your dad. that way, you could get to re-know each other and help each other, and than, if he understands how important these things are to you, he may be able to help you go. If you got a PT job and saved some, it would also show how important these trips are to you. $10,000 is allot of money. Let me put it in perspective. I spent about $10,000 in the last year setting up my house, and it will take me 2 years to pay it off,, that's a flat screen TV, a couch, an exercise bike, a bed, a phone, and tools for work and study. Unless your dad is rich,, that's quite a stretch. If he's a good guy,, connect with him and support him. then you'll have 2 parents you can count on.

That is a sad thing. That your dad does not fulfill his responsibilities. But I don't think you can do much about that if you are a minor. Talk to your mom about it. She can at least get some help legally on the child support issue. I don't know if they can force him to pay for a trip. Good luck.

you can probably sue him for the back child support... but without going back to court to collect, your mom wont get it anytime soon

as far as his smoking goes, he has to want the change or it wont happen, so, he is telling you what he thinks you want to hear thereby delaying confrontation about the issue to a later time

Then don't go. In the future you don't have to give him much too.
