As a business expense, you should consider a trip to the United States to determine what products you feel would have an audience in the UK. You don't have to buy anything but rather take tours of the facilities here to research what products you feel have a receptive market and then investigate methods of reducing costs, shipping, advertising, etc. The business expense should be tax deductible and include write offs for food, hotels, transportation, etc. I don't know if your country offers business expense write offs like the USA does but you will be further ahead investing a thousand pounds or so to experience our world of products before importing and trying to sell products that are a flop. It's hard enough selling USA products to the USA.
I had a visitor from England who was just in awe at the choices of products we have hitting us each day. Your country (as all countries) have certain banned products for import and export so make sure you cover those legal issues before trying to import anything. Become familiar with the duties involved as well as shipping costs and packaging. I am confident that you will find the right product(s) and market(s) but you want to become knowledgeable in the items purpose, quality, and value before you can market it to a new audience. Keep in mind certain eletrical products will not work there. Keep in mind that some items have acquired tastes that may not go over well. Two examples are root beer and peanut butter which may never be received in your country.
My friend was most impressed by the foods and food choices here that we take for granted. Perhaps importing foods from the USA would be lucrative but again you need to check the restrictions of your country before trying a case of spaghetti sauce or chewing gum.
Again, why not consider a trip to the United States for a week or two and figure out for yourself what products the UK is a captive audience for??? The trip will pay for itself by avoiding mistakes of sight unseen imports.
You can also search USA Ebay for the "hot products" and find out what the US buyers are eager for.

Get imports from US which is hard to find in the UK or Europe, most preferably computer accessories, and other electronic gadgets.
