Because of the Earths shape and rotation, sunlight shines only on part of the Earth at a time. Thje time zones reflect this.

there are 2 parts to the answer. One, why does time difference OCCUR between two countries and two, why does time difference occur between 2 COUNTRIES.
(1) Since the Earth goes round opposite to the direction of its revolution, the sun's rays about clash with the curve. Hence, now if you have gotten morning rays, the place west to you will get it later. You can expirience it on a clear sunny hot day when the sun is rising or setting. Look at the speed at which the line between light & darkness meets.
(2) Different countries have different time zones due to the above fact in (1). One country has only one time zone 'cause if more, it would cause chaos in railways, air transport as you want the 0200 hr flight and it gets printed as 0300. But big countries do have more than one time zones. Like the US, has 4

Why do time differences occur between one country and another?
In the truest scientific sense of the word they don't of course. We could of course all function by the same time and schedule but that would mean that some of us would be rising and working during dark hours on our side of the planet while others worked during the light hours. That said, the earth has been divided into 24 longitudinal sections with an hours difference between each one. This has been done because of the way humans tend to organize their day, rising with the sun and sleeping during the hours of darkness. The time zones allow us to move about the planet and still retain our sense of schedule. Without time zones if you were to go say from New York to London, you would find yourself rising at 7am in New York, but at 2am in London in order to enjoy the same amount of daylight hours. The time zone adjustment allows you to rise at 7am in both places and have a "normal" day.

The earth is rotating on its axis.it makes one round in 24 hours.
The rotation is from west to east. The circumference of the earth is roughly 24000 miles. so roughly it covers 1000 miles in an hour.So after 24 hrs it has completed one round. Say you are standing on point "A" on the earth and suppose the sun rises there at 6 o'clock in the morning. so for the sun to rise at a palace 1000 miles west of you it will take one more hour. At that time your watch will show 7 o" clock. In that place it will be 6 O"clock
In a palace 1000 Miles east of you it will be 8 O"clock
That is how time differs over different places For setting of standard clock the earth is divided into 360 degrees. each degree is shown by a vertical line called longitude. Thus 24000/360 = 66.666 miles = 1Degree. The standard Meridian chosen for measuring time is that of Greenwich in England .It is Known as 0 degree. From there the count is up to 180Degree East and 180 Degree west.

Because the world is round (specifically oblate spheroid) and it rotates. The sun can only shine on one part of the world, so that part's in the daytime while the rest is in the night time. At different longtitudes, the view of the sun from the earth is different (could be noon or 3 PM or 8 AM) and this is the cause of the time difference.

It's easier for the world to go by Greenwich Mean Time, and adjusting the time difference than remembering one world clock.
Otherwise as England rises at say 7am, when Californians awaken (8 hrs later) they would have to say the time is 3pm.
Lazy buggers.

i won't make it that easy.
if you live in the u.s. then your today is my yesterday.
how does it feel to live only in my past?
we tell time by the sun. when it's overhead it's noon. so no matter where you are sun overhead means noon and because the world is turning that happens at different times for all of us in the world.

IT IS BASED ON THE EARTH ROTATION. TIME IS FIXED, ACCORDING TO THE POSITION OF THE SUN, IN RELATION TO THE COUNTRY.
