It seems that the US has developed poor relations with most oil-producing nations except Canada. Venezuela doesn't do as the US dicatates in regard to their government policies or oil sales, so there is now bad blood between the two governments.

The people of both countries are quite happy with one another, however.

US oil companies and owners of the wells in Venezuela wanted to deal oil at prices below OPEC levels.

Chavez said no and forced the oil to be sold at full price.

Chavez is using the extra revenue to help his country:
- reopening old factories and creating jobs
- universal medical care
- improving schools and roads
And many other things.

The fight is between the US which wants cheap oil for their own benefit at the expense of the Venezuelan people, and Chavez who wants Venezuela's natural resources and profits to be used for the benefit of Venezuelans, not just a few wealthy elite.

Chavez's actions fly in the face of US foreign policy of the last 200 years: slavery, share cropping, unfair trading practices (produce from Central and South American countries) and fascist puppet dictatorships (eg. Batista in Cuba) are how the US came to be so wealthy.

The idea that a country should benefit from its own wealth instead of the US benefitting from it, well, that's just...just...unAmerican!

Venezuela, is sitting on oil reserves larger than Sudia Aribia.

but it is heavy oil, diffrent.

He want to provide cheap oil, but not trade in dollars. or rather unlike Sudia Aribia who buys our Bonds, the money for oil wouldn't circulate back into the U.S.

His politics is not communist so much as anti imperialist.

However he is coming off as a nut job, and has no sympathy in the developed world, but for the poor people of his country apperantly support him.

Besides the CIA already tried to overthrow him once, and he got it on tape, so i guess it pissed him off.

The leader is a communist who hates America.
He's got billions of dollars of oil money to work with to hurt freedom all over the world.
He is now proping up the failed Cuba communists with his extra millions.
