I don't think so but would like to know what you think. Is this common? Are the shower facilities somehow different between head coaches and their assistants? Are there reasons why this practice might be acceptable or not acceptable?

No.

Here in the UK its against child protection good practise and probably against the law.

Before I got injured I was training to be a football coach for disabled people. I attended many lectures on child protection and this one one of the things to avoid. Even though it may be perfectly innocent, it could be seen as anything but innocent and would leave the coach open to prosecution.

However, it could also mean that the coach is a paedophile and could put the kids in danger.

I don't see a problem if they are all the same sex. Now what may be a problem is, if the coach is a child molester or rapist, there may be something bad going down. However, don't always draw conclusions in situations like this. Football is a nasty game for everyone involved down on that field. Look for other sines that this is an unhealthy state of affairs, the most obvious one being whether the coach is being aroused by being in the presents of other men. No normal heterosexual guy gets an erection in the locker room.

I don't really see why he would... unless the assistant coach was a student training to become a coach. I'd find this a small bit creepy, but maybe he just want to feel included or something... i don't think he should, tho.

i totally agree with footynutguy's answer, but the laws are different in the USA, so if i was you i would either make a complaint or look deeper into ur own countries laws, just a word of warning, if he is standing behind you in the shower and the soap "accidentley" slips on the floor DO NOT bend over for it!!!as he might slip you more than the soap......lol....just joking there

Not a good idea at all, and not very smart, mostly because of the age difference. If the team members are uncomfortable with this, they should ask him to stop showering with them.
He is probably trying to bond with the team members and just be one of the guys.

However, with the paranoia going on among some of the parents, he could possibly find himself falsely accused of some impropriety. (If you catch my meaning)

unacceptable for adult faculty members to be showering with students. It's inappropriate and sets up a stage for accusations (founded or not).

I would not think so. Sounds like an issue to be taken up with the administration so that it can be investigated.
