A MESSAGE TO SOME OF YOU WHO RESPONDED:
Regardless of what you might think of the person who asked the question... What's YOUR excuse for being so mean spirited?! And to YOU Ashley. Your, "Oh, and by the way..." comment really gives a frighteningly clear picture of YOUR true character.
To the one who asked the question... I won't comment other than to say that I'm sorry to hear that your mom had a heart attack. I hope she continues to get better. Craig!! :o)

"But it's the sort of sicko tactic that certain "gay activists" (both on this forum and in the world in general) seem to have no qualms about employing." First of all, you used "certain", meaning of course, not "all". I won't even bring up use of methodology, and protesting military funerals etc.
Nor will I dwell on the fact that many of "your people" (if we want to play the generalization game) don't respond with threats of violence: they respond with full force violence, and not just against activists. Name-calling? Yep, your side is completely innocent of that.
I really want to think that you don't believe what you're saying, because it's overtly illogical to me to think that because some gay people do some things that you don't like (which straight people do every day of the week), that gay people should not be allowed to marry or have children whereas straight people still can. THing is, I do believe you're sincere, and I do believe that somehow you don't see the flaw in this reasoning. I also believe that you won't really care, or even do the background research on it, but all the studies show that gay parents have zero negative effects on the outcome of their children's lives. Fact is, all the professionals disagree with you. In fact, the poeple fighting REALLY hard to be able to have children are likely MORE ready than about half the straight couples who have children. Parents will have better outcomes when they think about it, and make a conscious decision to have children instead of just assuming they're supposed to, or just going with it when there's a "surprise". Check out some psych journals at your local college library; you might be surprised.

"It's bad enough when "gay activists" react to those of us who oppose their lifestyle by threats of physical violence, wishes of physical violence, incredibly vicious name-calling, and all-around immaturity and babyishness.
Now we can add defamation of character to their back of tricks."
Sounds like they learn from the best, since these are exactly the same tactics used by conservatives attempting to deny gay civil rights.
As to adoption, there are far more bad straight parents. We hear about them every day, endangering or hurting their children. I remember one case where a gay couple was denied adoption of several kids who were instead placed into a straight foster home where they were sexually abused. Nice, huh?
Not all gays are emotionally immature, just as not all conservatives are bigoted homophobes. All people are entitled to be judged on their merits indivudally. Sure, some gay people may not make great adoptive parents, but I doubt they are applying either. Why not permit those that are applying to meet the same criteria for parenting as heterosexual adoptive parents, rather than denying them outright because you think they're ill equipped.

If defamation of character is a matter to ban loving families from adopting children without parents, and deny children the protection that other kids have when their parents are legally protected by law, then I don't think any other sexual orientation should be allowed to marry either as people from all backgrounds defame character.
Okay, i know they say that people will not listen to things counter to their ingrained beliefs, but i'm going to post some bible verses anyway just incase somone would like to see what all this "the bible doesn't actually say homosexuality is wrong" about. Curious? click the link.
Would you believe that i believe in Jesus? I might not be gay, but i am Queer, and God loves me and every other human being. And yes, i can back it up with scripture!
If i post and you read, you can post and i'll check back and read ^_~

Okay, a rumor was started about you. You know how adults deal with rumors, they confront the individuals spreading them, inform others of the truth and, get over it! They don't get on here and throw a hissy-fit about it.
I understand that people disagree with the way I live my life and I am completely in favor of intelligent debate over it because I believe in freedom of speech for everyone. However, I have to say that the argument you have presented is not intelligent. You have resorted to the same defamation and immaturity that you accuse us of.
I understand that there are bad apples on both sides of the issue, those who gladly sling barbs instead of trying to get their point across. I hope you understand that not all of us have the emotional capacity of an angsty twelve year old. I too have heard my fair share of "babyish" arguments from those who oppose same-sex marriage and same-sex adoption. I have also heard very intelligent ones which help me strengthen my argument for what I believe in.
I believe you are an intelligent person but, you must phrase your arguments better and stop reacting with such intense anger. You have every right to express your opinion but please do it with the same maturity you would like those on the opposite end of the argument to show.

And why do you feel compelled to mention the people spreading rumours about you are 'gay activists'? if a person spreads a rumour, their sexuality is in no way a reflection of their character or ability to speak the truth .
if an individual is not 'emotionally stable' their sexuality is not an influencial variable that causes them to be that way. Emotional stability is a self-esteem issue, not a gay issue.
I am gay for the same reason I have blue eyes. Are you saying people with blue eyes should not be able to get married? And I shouldn't be able to adopt children because I was born with blue eyes? You are stupid.
Oh, and by the way, how would you like it if I said to you "You shouldn't be able to marry the one you love because you're black".? Exactly. That's the scope of your bigotry and homophobia.

Like the sound of your own typing, don't you? How can you generalise, when you have never met every single gay person in the world? And, who are these 'Gay activists' that you are quoting? I haven't seen any...

I have no idea who you are. I can already tell you're no fun to be around. Hanging around you would be a day full of stress and worrying about other people's business. That sounds like a nightmare.

I think if you make a decision on homosexuality based off what you read on Yahoo Answers you must be a moron. Oh, and it's so easy to point out how people in the gay community may backlash with threats of violence and name calling, but guess what - PEOPLE LIKE YOU DO IT TO US ALL THE TIME. IF YOU OPPOSE OUR LIFESTYLE THEN WHY THE HELL ARE YOU IN THIS SECTION? ARE YOU PERVERTED AND YOU JUST GET OFF ON PISSING PEOPLE OFF? NO ONE IN HERE CARES WHAT YOU THINK AND WE'RE NOT GOING TO CHANGE BECAUSE OF SOME BIBLE VERSE YOU READ LAST NIGHT.

I'm new here, but I won't "threat" who opposes my life style. (BTW: I wear clothes like other men, go to college, I have hobbies, I even watch pornographic things, except I have no sexual attraction towards women). You're generalizing, if SOME gay people threatned you, that doesn't make everyone like them. Besides, MUCH MORE gay people get threatned over their life style than straight people for theirs. Or is it OK for us to get threatned, but it's a crime against you? Get the facts right, many gay people suffer physical and emotional injuries from people opposing their life style!
If you're brave enough, leave this question for voting, because I'm sure you'll choose the first answer that agrees with your twisted opinion.
