Please see the article and survey conducted by PHDCCI which shows that delhi is far from prepared. But 2010 is still far away and Delhi can redeem itself

Is Delhi ready for hosting the Commonwealth games 2010? Why is it then not attracting the attention of investment banks like the Goldman Sachs, which are supporting small towns like Fukoukawa for Olympics 2016? Does the international investment and banking community not find Delhi a safe bet enough to stake their money on? It is unfortunate that a heritage city like Delhi which successfully hosted the Asian Games in 1982 has not been awarded any international event for 28 years. Now that the commonwealth games 2010 are finally being hosted by Delhi the question is how prepared is the city to host the games and prove its mettle. PHDCCI conducted an on line survey amongst its members to assess the perception of the industry and business about the preparedness of the city infrastructure.

Delhi is not ready for the Commonwealth Games. In the survey conducted by PHDCCI among its members to assess the perception of business regarding preparedness of Delhi for the Commonwealth Games, 95 percent of the respondents felt that Delhi was not ready to host the Commonwealth Games.

Respondents were asked to rank Delhi’s preparedness on various parameters. The slow pace of construction of new stadium emerged as the most important factor in preparedness for the Games. The need for upgradation of airport and railway stations has emerged as the 2nd most critical concern being marked so by 66% of the respondents. Power shortage is close at heels with 61% of respondents ranking it as an important factor. The lack of public transport, the absence of high capacity buses and poor traffic management has emerged as next on the priority. Renovation of existing stadia, connectivity with games village and security come next, followed by inadequate number of hotel rooms, standardized signages and signal free expressways have been highlighted as missing items in Delhi’s tryst with the games. The need for construction of flyovers has been marked as important by less than 39%. A few respondents even went so far as to say that the needed number of flyovers have already been constructed in the city.

PHDCCI strongly urges the Central Government and the Delhi Government to step up the pace of preparation to a war footing. It may then reinstate faith and attract its own industry and business to put money in development of infrastructure and other services desperately required.

Firstly, being a Indian how could you raise such a question. Secondly, If you live in Delhi or India then you must have seen the changes that have been going on since the last 3 years. The govt. has taken more than enough steps to make good preparations, even better than Beijing.
