I got paperwork to sign up for the National Deans list. What does that mean for me? Could it be a plus on my resume? Do employers actually know what that is?

This seems to be something new, because several of my students also got letters inviting them to join and asked me about it this year, and I have never been asked about it before. I looked into it, and it did seem to be a legitimate list, but since a Dean's List just means that you have a high GPA, if you have a number of other honors which signify the same thing (honor societies, Who's Who, etc.), it doesn't really add information for employers. If you don't have any of those other things, then by all means, include it.
