I prefer liquid as powder dries your skin and clogs the pores. You can choose any color, but I do like Revlon, for your type of skin, if it is oily or dry. You can always put a touch of powder on top to seal the foundation. I think Asians with black hair, and lighter skin are pretty, but if you are not, you can choose the color, just try the demonstrator bottle, and you will know what looks the best. Always clean your face and never leave makeup on at night, it will clog the pores. Clean with an astringent, if young and have oily skin. Good luck. The dept. stores usually have people to help you and tell you what kind of skin you have, etc.

It depends on what type of skin you have - is it dry, oily, or a combination of the two?
I have combination skin, and I absolutely adone BareMinerals powder foundations. They are a bit pricey, but worth it.
It also depends on the coverage that you want to get - liquid gives fuller coverage, but is not preferable if you have oily skin. Powders are usually sheerer, and not preferable for those with dry skin.
A good one that I've found is Maybelline Dream Mousse Foundation - good coverage, and doesn't make your face feel like it's coated in goo.

if you mean the color, never test it on your hand because out hands are always darker than our face. you should try it on clean skin of your chin and see if it matches. but if you want to start to use a new brand of foundation , all brands have samples, use the sample first and if you were satisfied buy the product.
