... and impaled one of neighbour's dresses on the line. How do I shift the blame onto the guy in the house behind who's always practicing his trombone at midnight?

You mustn't shift the blame, just own up and offer to pay for the dress. As the truth will come out soon and your neighbour is your neighbour, You must knock on the door now today!

Don't leave it to long as the longer you leave it the harder it will be to confess up to.

You are very lucky that it was only a dress and not a child or someones eye!

You shouldn't have been doing it in your garden as it is.

I really hope that you have learnt your lesson from this.
And do archery in a safe place.

Invite yourself round to your neighbours, and get talking to her about the terrible noise from the trombone players house.
Get her in agreement, then plot together what you would like to do to him to shut him up.....once she is on your side, tell her you have a small confession...
You were so fed up with him that you decided to shoot him with your bow and arrow, but as you were about to release the arrow, you tripped over, and it flew over the fence, impaling her dress by mistake
She may feel a little more understanding, or she may just throw you out

Hi! I assume you got your arrow back so there's no evidence of you left at the scene? This is simple really, just tell your neighbour this: "that the trombone player is so talented and that he blows the trombone so fiercely, his high notes have blown a hole in your dress, how awesome is that? Are you going to ask him for compensation?" But of course, we all know that it's best to come clean. After all it wasn't deliberate on your part was it?

At least the neighbour was not wearing the dress at the time.

Dangerous things arrows, we had one right through our hall, broke a window in one side flew across 30 feet and exited the window the other side.

Is the trombonist any good, if he is and is near Fairford Glos then the Fairford Silver Band would love to hear from him.

Does anyone know how I prosecute someone who fired an arrow over my fence into my wifes dress ?

I was beginning to think it was my next-door-but-one trombone playering neighbours but I know different now.

Depends on where the arrow is? Are your fingerprints on it??? You could give the set to the trombone player as a gift - he would be delighted and take it out into his back garden and practise.
However, she's probably seen you from her upstairs window and got it all on video. So pay up.

Treat people the way you would like to be treated yourself. I wouldn't like to be lied to or manipulated in this way. You should show your neighbour some respect and own up, apologise and offer to replace the dress.

Who knows, maybe you'll become closer friends and be able to tackle trombone-boy together.

Oh, and you should find somewhere else to practise your archery in future. You could have hurt someone.

If she's hot just say it must have been Cupids arrow.

If she's a pig tell her it was the fat tuba playing lad (I'm assuming he is fat - never met a skinny tuba player and yes I do know what they say about assume) say he asked you to ruin the dress - but tell her, in a secretive way he is painfully shy and only wanted to get her attention as he is infatuated with her radiant smile, her sensual mouth, her little wobble as she rolls down the street. In fact fat tuba and ugly neighbour will thank you for ruining that tent - sorry dress.

Just leave the bow and arrows on his doorstep and ring the neighbors door. The trombone player will not know what struck him because he can't hear anything anyway.

why shift the blame, just own up and offer to pay for the dress. because one way or another the true will come out sometime and your neighbour is your neighbour, so treat her as such and don't be a dip stick .
