Here's a formula for converting digits 1-8 to "one" to "eight." You could build one for multi-digit numbers, though it would be complicated. Note that you type "1" in cell A1,and the answer appears in a different cell, but it sounds like you wanted the text to appear in the same box. I don't know how to do that.

=IF(A1=0,"zero",IF(A1=1,"one",IF(A1=2,"two",IF(A1=3,"three",IF(A1=4,"four",IF(A1=5,"five",IF(A1=6,"six",IF(A1=7,"seven","eight"))))))))

I've never heard of such a function and, if there is one, it might be in some specialized writing of checks function. After all, one is expected to spell out on checks. Maybe it's only in QuickBooks, or other bookkeeping programs that write checks. Where else would you use it?

You can do it for dates, of course. You know that. But not other numbers, I don't think.
