As noted, the gall bladder stores the bile made by the liver for release into the duodenum (first part of the small intestine). It releases the bile when the contents of the stomach are released into the duodenum. Thus, its role is to release the bile at the time it is needed.
This is not crucial, however, and so the gall bladder can be removed if it is diseased. When this is done, the bile trickles into the small intestine continuously. The bile can still emulsify fats in this case, it is just that it is no longer released in response to meals.

The gallbladder is a small pear-shaped organ that stores and concentrates bile. It is connected to the liver (which produces the bile) by the hepatic duct.
The function of the gallbladder is to store bile and concentrate bile. Bile is a digestive liquid continually secreted by the liver. The bile emulsifies fats and neutralizes acids in partly digested food. A muscular valve in the common bile duct opens, and the bile flows from the gallbladder into bile duct, and into the duodenum (part of the small intestine).

The function of the gallbladder is to store bile that is produced in the liver before the bile is secreted into the intestines. Bile secreted into the intestines helps the body digest fats.

actually its a store house for bile juice dat in turn s secreted by liver...d bile emulsifies fat or lipids i.e. it break down large droplets of fat into smaller droplets thereby inceasing the surface area for lipase to act upon
