i had to update the driver on mine check with the manufacture most likely a web site it will guide you how to get it. i have a logitech which is few years old. you can also check the settings on the cam , if anyone messed with it just put them to default

Re-install the driver, increase the lightin conditions, clean the lens, check the settins.

There may be some problem with hardware but ı think the problem is your computer hasn't recognized your web-cam yet .So you should install web-cam driver.

try more light,put a bigger globe.I had that prob and fitting a reading lamp so it shone on me fixed it.
