You can drink moderately and its effects can actually have a positive effect on your health. There is no such beneficial level of smoking.

If you are talking of dringing to excess then the question is less clear cut. Whilst I cannot spread liver disease to those near me by drinking to much. If I then drive home I am much more likely to kill someone than I would if I were to drive home after smoking.

I do not know the figures but I suspect more people can be proven to have been killed by people under the influence of alcohol than by passive smoking. However people should not drink and drive, if they do they are breaking the law and are subject to punishment. there is no equivalent punishment for smokers spreading disease through passive smoking.

So on the whole I would say drinking is more preferable - just try to drink in moderation.

I stopped smoking nearly 2 years ago, cos it was really stinky! But I do like a swallie now and again. The only thing is, binge drinking (like saving up all your weekly alcohol units and having a massive blowout at the weekend) is really really bad for you. But I used to do that when I was at college and much younger! You just dont think about it at the time.

To Drink. First of all, Drinking doesn't smell nearly as bad. There's no such thing as second hand drinking. Drinking won't damage your lungs.

Being drunk is fun, and though you may wake up with the occasional hangover, you won't have a smokers cough (unless you were at a bar filled with smokers the previous night).

being a non-smoker and tee totaller i would suggest none .but if youi're really interested in chosing one then .smoking should be your second priority since it has no benefit .

as for liquor if you take in therapeutic dose like red wine specially in old age after 50's ,and if specialist hasn't recommended you not to take then therapeutic drinking is better than not drinking in the sense you don't indulge into oblivion.

But recently i read an article which proved that social drinkers bring home more $ bills and cheques (7% and above) than tee -totallers like me .

i'm a tee totaller because i am a health freak and a seeker .

alcohal overtaking kills your brain cellls incredibly and if alcohalism is chronic then you will meet my uncle (right now he is in heaven since he left earth a couple of years ago) he got free ticket to heaven as a bonus for harddrinking regularly

i hope i have answered your question gentleman .if not forgive me .and don't curse me .bye

Neither is advisable, as both interfere with the natural functions of the body in some form or other. Survival depends on body's strength of immunity, which varies from person to person, which means some get affected adversely soon, some later, and some manage to escape. But those who manage to escape are a minority lot.

they say anything in moderation? but smoking is best not to start at all as it is so addictive (am struggling to give up at the moment) and drinking, if only a sociable one or two now and then fine, but this too is underestimated and in the long term can cause health problems as well as social ones if done in excess..

Smoking is better than drinking..I have never heard of a case of domestic violence because someone had too many fags, smoking and driving is not lethal as drink and driving. I will not loose my temper because I can't take my smoke as someone would because they can't take their drink...I don't puke in the street or walk like an idiot because I had a cigarette...Blah, blah. I can go forever!

Drinking in moderation is good for you. It helps you to relax, and reduces the chance of heart disease. Smoking slowly kills you and endangers the health of all around you.

As a non smoker who is also a teetotaller, I believe that drinking is better because the drinker is only harming himself/herself whereas the smoker is harming everyone around him/her.
