Hey all, I got one of those Visa giftcards for my bday. It is basically a debitcard (pre-set limit) that acts as a credidcard (swipe, sign, done).

Here is my questions.. How do I take the money off the card and put it in my paypal acc? The card has $200 on it right now, and next month it starts to lose 10% of its value each month if I dont spend it.

Is this possible? Thanks

Unfortunately no it doesn't work that way. In order to transfer funds to your Paypal account the card has to be backed by a checking account ..... A.K.A debit card.

The only advise I can offer is to got to your Paypal account and and add credit card and spend like there is no tomorrow.

Should be easy -- set up a PayPal account and select the credit card as the source of funds. Prepaid or otherwise should still look like a standard Visa card to the PayPal billing system.

You can then transfer funds from the CC to your paypal account and carry the balance there as far as I know. You need to go into the "my Account" tab.

=== EDIT ===

Hmm, I just looked into it and it does not look like they do that from a credit card -- only from a bank account.

But I bet you can simply send the money to yourself. Try that first (send yourself $10 for example) to see if the system will allow it, and if so whether or not they charge you any money on either end. If they accept it and don't charge any fees, great. If they accept it but charge you a fee, you need to ask which is worse -- losing money to PayPal once when you send it all to yourself, or losing money a bit at a time each month as the card charges you for not using it.

It is not possible to transfer funds from a credit card to a PayPal account. The "add Funds" feature only allows you to transfer from a bank account in the United States.

Spend it! I had one from Rent.com and used it for groceries and to reload a Starbucks card...

You can use them for anything, except transferring to PayPal...
