Copying the cariacatures they see on tv is my guess. You know the 8 year olds being cheeky to their parent and the audience laughing at it.
It's always been there it's just getting worse like someone said. There is less discipline, no belt in school, pathetic to no sentences for minors commiting crimes, special schools which give the bad ones privelidges when the good ones just have to put up with it and work hard.
Parents being lazy and not actually teaching their children to respect others. The increased want want want fueled by the media which makes them have more access to things they should have to wait for.
In effect they are all growing up too soon. Or at least trying to act adult when they don't really know what it is means to be one. So that means drinking, being rude and having sex basically without any kind of responsibilities or things to bring them down to earth a bit like having to get a job and pay pills. That usually balances it out for adults but when you're a child or teenager it can soon spiral out of control when you're being given access and exposed to all these adult things without knowing how to handle it.

Where I come from respect has to be earned. MOST adults I knew as a child deserved respect, but not all of them. Those that didn't deserve respect, got none.
As for 'children today' being rude, that complaint has been made about every generation for the last 3000 years.

They have parents who for some stupid reason believe in
