soap actors become very popular and "think" they'll make it in primetime or the movies so they leave realize no one outside of housewives and college kids know who they are, so they fail miserably and come crawling back to their former shows begging for another chance.

probably so an actor can leave the show, then once they dont get any movie roles they still have their old job....and i think its the opposite...its still christmas for 2 weeks of shows :)
