My fiance's parents are always asking us for money to help them out. In the beginning I felt really guilty if we didn't help because they needed it. It finally got to a point where it felt like they were abusing the fact that we would give money anytime they expressed need and I finally told his mom that we couldn't help them anymore because we weren't able to support them too. My mom also did the same to me, but she always said she would pay back whatever she borrowed.. and it got to the point where she didn't pay one time and it got ugly, and I haven't given her a dime since. You just basically need to talk to them, and explain why you can't always give them what they want. It's hard with families because one wrong move and your dunzo. Communication is key !! Good luck

A marriage is made up of 2 very selfish people with different backgrounds and expectations.
Unfortunately, there are some who can not leave his father and mother and stick to his wife as commanded in the bible and therefore the in-laws take advantage of you.
I say this because the children are responsible for the care of their "aged" parents, but the parents have the responsibility of making sure that the children have something to inherit.
This is one of those "2 edge swords" that only those with very large hearts can apply and be happy!

Good question. I wish I knew! My family has always taken advantage of me horribly. I just let it happen because I never wanted them to go without. Guilt works well on those of us with hearts! I recently had to just stop talking with my mom and hope the other kids would step up.

They did until I learned to say "no." It's not easy, but once you start, it's a very liberating experience.

like in every family, there are those who only call when they need something, (money) other wise they don't even remember me.
